How to be Motivated into Healthy Living

About a year ago my friend asked to go to True Fitness together for a trial session, and that was how and when I started. I had never really stepped into a gym to workout at all before, until then. I used to be so good at giving excuses to not be active. Now I'm just thankful that Jo brought me to that first step to healthier lifestyle.

Many of my friends who are always complaining about how fat they are, how they should start exercising but they don't. & the complaining goes on and on, with nothing being done. Everyone knows exercise is good for everyone, but many just can't seem to make themselves do it. What lacking is the motivation and determination. Motivation is what get you started, Determination keeps you going.

Here are some tips on how to go into exercising routine if you have yet to start.

  • Don't ever say you can't
    • Nothing is impossible, you just have to believe you can. Don't make me pour out 100 inspiring stories to make you feel guilty of what you said. You definitely can, it's only whether you want, or not.
  • Get Started!
    • The biggest step to getting motivated, is to Get Started. How do you even go anywhere without a start point? Get out of your comfort zone. You aren't getting anywhere just saying or staying at where you are. So get moving! There is always a first time.
  • Find a Friend
    • If you find it hard to exercise alone, pull a friend along. Your friend can be a total newbie, both of you can learn together. Or you can find a friend who work-out frequently and is willing to guide you along the way.
    • Set rules with your friend, eg. if any one of you skipped a scheduled workout day for more than 3 times, there will be a penalty.
  • Get the gears
    • Invest in a good pair of sports shoe, sports bra or whatever. When you love what you wear, you are going to be wearing it more often. & of course you aren't going to let it be thrown in a corner. Flaunt it at the gym or in the park. Put it to good use, perspire in it.
  • Start Slow
    • Start by marking on your calendar a specific day on every week as your 'Exercise day'. Do Not accept any excuses from yourself to skip any day. If your friends ask you out on that day, tell them you are booked, or get them to join you.
    • Book more days like twice or thrice a week after you have made weekly exercise day a habit. It's another step to getting out of your comfort zone.
  • Do Not fear Failure!
    • Before, I never dared to step into a Fitness Centre. Simply because I am totally clueless on how to use the machines or afraid of being mocked at. Like I said, there is always a first time!
    • What you can do, is sign up for a trial session at any Fitness Centre where there are personal trainers to guide you. You will be introduced to the machines and some fitness basics from the professionals.
    • Alternatively, you can ask a friend who work-out regularly to guide you.
    • Do research online on how to correctly work towards your goal.
  • Make records and watch your body changes through time and effort
    • You are definitely going to see results if you're doing it correctly. Take before-after photos, record down your weight or whatever in a logbook. It will please you, and then you'll realize all the pain you've gone through are all worthwhile.
    • In fact after all these, you are going to enjoy the 'pain'. Trust me.
  • Remember your successes
    • That's not the end, there is no end because you are going to love what you're doing! Remember your successes, you are going to create more of them. & when you look back, there will be no regrets but satisfaction.

On healthy eating...
When I go out and choose healthier food to eat, some friends say I'm on a diet.
So what do they mean by diet? -to eat what you usually don't and cut down on the amount of food you usually take, for a short period of time to get to your ideal weight or size. Then you stop and go back to the usuals.
Which is ineffective if you're looking for long term results. & it is not healthy.
No... My diet plans always fail in fact. Hahahah because I love food too much. but I have learned to go for healthier choices and even though sometimes I do cheat a little...... :P

Here's how you can start to change your usual diet to a healthier one.
  • Know that Healthy food are not awful!!
    • Many actually have the thinking that healthy food are all fruits and vegetables, and no healthy food taste good! That is so WRONG! It is true that fruits and greens are healthy, but not all of them are. & if you categorize healthy food under the non-yummy food, you are simply not trying enough good food!!
    • Stop being bias against healthy food. They can be very tasty and are very beneficial for your body.
  • Clean out your kitchen
    • Do you have many tidbits, snacks and soda in your kitchen? Clear them out! Not into your stomach definitely. You're not going to empty them into the bin too.. So bring them to your school or office. This sounds pretty evil but you're just going to look like a nice person who offer your friends and colleagues food. Hahaha...
  • Go on healthy shopping
    • Now that your fridge and drawers are empty, it's time to fill them up with healthy snacks. My favourite is Cherry Tomatoes :) Get some nuts, yogurt, milk, eggs or whatever. Do some research online on what is good for you. You can ignore those that you hate. Haha..
    • Do Not go to the sweets or snack sections! Just don't go and you won't be tempted to get them.
  • Once in awhile, its okay to satisfy your craving for unhealthy food...
    • You don't have to eliminate them out of your life entirely, of course if you can that'll be good. But if you can't bear to, then just minimize the intake.
    • If you had a sinful meal today, make it up by getting rid of them the next day. Detox tea and intense exercises. Don't let the toxins stay in your body for more than three days, once they get into your fats cells and turned into stored fats, it'll be harder for you to release them.
  • Say NO to soft drinks!
    • I never had any problem with this because I never liked carbonated drinks. They are nothing good to you. You can try asking Google how to stop xD
    • Water is always the better choice, have lots of water! Slice some lemons and add them into your ice water jar, easy and aid in weight loss & digestion. Too many benefits.

Being healthy makes one look good and feel good. You only live once, so make the best out of it.
I've said my piece. The body is yours, take responsibility in taking good care of it. Choose what is best for yourself.

My Brief Period of Enthusiasm

This morning I woke up suddenly wanting to take up Early Childhood Education. My passion for events managing seems to have died off a little. I'm only on my first year in Facilities & Events Management! Hmm. Maybe I'll take that after I finish that degree. Get both certificate or something.

What to do when I have such fleeting passion? It tough to be me. Hahahahah

Happy girl is happy. Assignments are down!

WHADUPP PEOPLE. I just conquered my three assignments!
Like SUPER HAPPY NOW! Loads off shoulder. Well, for the month hahaha.

Actually just realised I have another due next next week. #FML
But thankfully, March wouldn't be as stress as February. Or at least thats what I hope and believe. HAHA.

Term break soon term break soon..... I'm thinking of where to go enjoy. BUT I HAVE NO FREAKING MONEY. Sigh pie.

So I've been rotting at home trying to do my assignments all this time for the whole week - well other than work. But honestly, most of the time I've just been jumping around, singing to myself, finding food and surfing the net. Really. It's always like this when I study. I can ground myself, but it's kind of useless because I'm almost never bored being home with myself and it can't really make me study. Still though, I do find some time when I suddenly get the motivation to work on them, better than being out and when you have the motivation you can't do right? Hahaha.. me and my excuses. Basically it just makes me less guilty that I'm not playing outside instead of facing the books.

Anyway I've let go two awesome weekends for the freaking assignments. It should be party time now but damn. There's work tomorrow ~_~

This is when you juggle work and school together. There isn't much time for rest...

Pray that my Monday won't be blue tomorrow.
Goodnight, & sweetdreams ;)

The Dreamy Idealist

Took a free personality test at iPersonic
& it says I'm a Dreamy Idealist! Haha. Read and thought it was pretty accurate.

Dreamy Idealists are very cautious and therefore often appear shy and reserved to others. They share their rich emotional life and their passionate convictions with very few people. But one would be very much mistaken to judge them to be cool and reserved. They have a pronounced inner system of values and clear, honourable principles for which they are willing to sacrifice a great deal.
... Dreamy Idealists are always at great pains to improve the world. They can be very considerate towards others and do a lot to support them and stand up for them. They are interested in their fellow beings, attentive and generous towards them. Once their enthusiasm for an issue or person is aroused, they can become tireless fighters.
For Dreamy Idealists, practical things are not really so important. They only busy themselves with mundane everyday demands when absolutely necessary. They tend to live according to the motto “the genius controls the chaos” - which is normally the case so that they often have a very successful academic career. They are less interested in details; they prefer to look at something as a whole. This means that they still have a good overview even when things start to become hectic. However, as a result, it can occasionally happen that Dreamy Idealists overlook something important. As they are very peace-loving, they tend not to openly show their dissatisfaction or annoyance but to bottle it up. Assertiveness is not one of their strong points; they hate conflicts and competition. Dreamy Idealists prefer to motivate others with their amicable and enthusiastic nature. Whoever has them as superior will never have to complain about not being given enough praise.
As at work, Dreamy Idealists are helpful and loyal friends and partners, persons of integrity. Obligations are absolutely sacred to them. The feelings of others are important to them and they love making other people happy. They are satisfied with just a small circle of friends; their need for social contact is not very marked as they also need a lot of time to themselves. Superfluous small talk is not their thing. If one wishes to be friends with them or have a relationship with them, one would have to share their world of thought and be willing to participate in profound discussions. If you manage that you will be rewarded with an exceptionally intensive, rich partnership. Due to their high demands on themselves and others, this personality type tends however to sometimes overload the relationship with romantic and idealistic ideas to such an extent that the partner feels overtaxed or inferior. Dreamy Idealists do not fall in love head over heels but when they do fall in love they want this to be a great, eternal love.
As a Dreamy Idealist you are one of the introverted personality types. Therefore you prefer a quiet work environment where you can intensively deal with your responsibilities and are not disturbed by too many people and repeated distractions. You need a lot of time to dwell on your thoughts, to put them into words, and let your ideas take shape.
You are grateful for a certain measure of order and structure because they secure the time to achieve this so you can deal with one task after the other and not have to juggle a number of responsibilities at once - you don’t like that because it is important to you to deal with things thoroughly. Your capability to concentrate is unusually great and very often you become engrossed in something and forget everything around you - even to eat and drink.
Nevertheless, because you are very adaptable, congenial and interested in harmony and cooperation, you enjoy working together with others. A neighborhood that requires the ability to assert yourself and where direct confrontations are the order of the day is not your optimal environment. In order to permit you to fully develop your ability you need an environment that is as stress free as possible. If you can’t get that you soon suffer, because you take critique and negative feedback very personally.
You enjoy the opportunity for exchanges with other people you value and whose capabilities you respect ... It is best when you share the same high ideals and important objectives and together can fight for the same good cause because then you are truly in your element. If that is not the case, you do better by largely working by yourself because you belong to the personality types who can do that very well and don’t necessarily have to depend on others in order to come up with good results.

Adjectives that describe your type
introverted, theoretical, emotional, spontaneous, idealistic, dreamy, effusive, pleasant, reserved, friendly, passionate, loyal, perfectionist, helpful, creative, composed, curious, obstinate, with integrity, willing to make sacrifices, romantic, cautious, shy, peace-loving, vulnerable, sensitive, communicative, imaginative

So what's your personality type? :)

遇见贵人

Feeling really lucky to know my FEM101 group mates. I've got a ride to Jln tpy so I don't have to squeeze with people on the bus or forget to get off like last week. & even after we finished our group assignment they are all very helpful with other modules as well. Yay to my new friends, they are awesome. (Y)

Work & Assignment Frenzy

This morning I woke up and took my time to shower, then I remembered Dad is not fetching us to work today. His car got into an accident last Saturday. So I'm late for work, and decided to just take half a day leave and stay home for that few hours to do my assignment. Need to take another day off this week for assignment too. I'm on assignment frenzy. My blog now seem to be just assignment assignment and assignments! Yea, I hate that too.

School later. *Yawn..

Just another busy weekend

Hiiiiiii! Basically the whole week I've just been thinking of my assignments almost all the time but not doing them. Like you know, just being stress because there is no progress.

Friday was valentine's day, but of course I did not celebrate it because I do not have a valentine and simply refuse to just accept any dates. Meaningless dates are meaningless. The options would only be spending with my lover or be alone.

It was quite an awesome Friday, well only at the start. I woke up happy, after all its a double festival day! Plus TGIF. Valentine's and Lantern Festival. I managed to take some photos of my office building for my assignment. Some reliefs.

After work, headed to gym and damn that Suntec is having renovation like everywhere that I want to go... I couldn't find my way to the gym at all because everywhere was blocked! and after gym, usually I would just go down the escalator and tadah- my bus stop.
However this time, like I said, EVERYWHERE was blocked. I ended up walking to and fro, here and there, and still didn't manage to find the bus stop. Damn. Gave up and queued for taxi. Queued half way I decided I should save the money and I switched to taking the train. Haha... It's yet another lost day of mine.

Oh well.

Saturday I had class in the afternoon for Essential Writing. Gosh I suck at writing, so this class is truly beneficial. Anyway, after class I had an appointment with New York Skin Solutions for a free analysis or something. Ended up they couldn't do for me because I just did my eyebrow embroidery and it is still peeling. Whattt... Okay doesn't matter to me actually.
Called up my friend who stays near the mall, got some movie tickets for the night and I went to his house to do my assignment. Muahahah, and free dinner. LOL :x
I swear it wasn't planned haha. & just surprised that I can actually be a good girl and really do my assignment cuz usually I'll just be easily distracted whenever it comes to studies.

So I mentioned that we got movie tickets. It was The Awkward Moment starring Zac Efron. He was so cute and now he.is.so.hot. Hhahah.

I just realized its already Sunday today. WHAT? That's really fast... Woke up early to go all the way to woodlands. Then late afternoon came back and to the high rise building to retake the photos because I realized that when I took the previous photos, I forgot to set the correct time in the camera, thus the incorrect time stamp on all the photos!! Seriously.. I think I am not called the blur queen for nothing.

-
I'm sorry if I bored you with the over-mentioning of my assignments.
What am I doing here instead of doing them? I have no idea.
Just reminded myself, got to go now. Sigh.

Strong nails

Howdy, I am up for random post today.

This is how much my nails grew in five weeks. Did these in Johor Bahru five weeks ago, I am surprised. It is still healthy and strong, and only chipped very very little!
The previous gelish I did usually I would end up peeling it because it would curl up a little and comes off pretty easily. Well this doesn't! This was my second time doing my manicure in JB @ Nails Studio in KSL City. The shop is pretty big and usually packed with people.

Price isn't the cheapest but definitely cheaper than Singapore's usual price!
& so far compared with those who did their CNY manicure in S'pore, those did in JB like myself still have our nail lacquer pretty even though well, our nails do grow right? I'm not too sure what different products they use though. but apparently S'pore done manicures doesn't seem to be as lasting.

Anyway, you can see faintly my toe nails still looking pretty and it's actually not gelish but normal nail polish. Partly because I seldom wear covered shoes, except sports shoes when i work out.

Love how they last so long I don't have to bear with ugly nails or keep spending money for manicure.

I do love how pretty long nails look, but I should be cutting them short soon. I have my thumb nail cracked a little and also its uncomfortable when I type on the keyboard or when I do dish-washing with long nails, its like an obstruction. lol ~_~

Stuck in the midst of an accident

This is me and Esther on bus 52. Boo hoohoo just had a car accident and stuck here... bus hit car on PIE, I kinda flew off my seat and the bus almost flipped.

Well I'm not sure how's the car doing, couldn't see it but police car arrived and we went on the next bus 52 that came to pick us.

Damn it, then I realized actually we were supposed to change bus before the highway but forgot to get off... ~_~ how dumb.
So actually we shouldn't be stuck in this accident and already doing our building analysis. T_T

Now on a cab to my house then head to do our site visiting.. so late already sobs T_T
if only I have no work tomorrow..

Color your Life!

Last weekend was just assignments and almost nothing else.
Well I did went to my friend's house for steamboat.. I think my first friend house visiting this year haha.
Didn't stay late because I had to wake up early morning next day to meet dear Esther for our assignment.
We were supposed to select a building that is over 25 storeys. Which I remembered my friend's HDB being 25 storeys high.

So we met up at Marine Parade and was there analyzing the fire safety system of the block. Freaking walked the whole building down by stairs looking for hose reel. Haha pretty dumb, and we didn't manage to find it.
So end of excursion, we split up and I headed off for brunch then gym.

Yay gym! Like finally... I haven't been working out the whole Lunar New Year! & also gorging on many Bak kwa, steamboat and blablabla~ It's time to get back in shape lol.

After gym I had yummy salmon sashimi don at sakae sushi, so used to requesting 'table for one' now. But well its heavenly when you're eating good food even when you're alone hehe.

When I was reaching home, saw an estate near my neighborhood and YAY they have tall buildings! Went and site visited on my own up and down the building and around the estate taking photos of whatever is needed for my assignment. It was really tiring! Fruitful day though :)

Got home and continued on my other assignment. @_@

Sunday, went for facial just opposite my block. Love how convenient it is! Its in-house facial which means no rental issues for her thus a cheaper rate for me! Hehehe. No psycho-ing of signing packages as well, I always go every once a month and she uses Doctor Babor products and treatments, up to us whether to purchase the products or not but she often gives us sample. Also, it is so near I don't have to dress up to go :P A good find and recommendation from my mom.
She's quite picky on her customers though, even asked me not to recommend to others. lol right. Well she told me she have enough regulars to keep her busy.

Right after my facial was done, Erabelle called to ask if I want to bring forward my appointment which I had booked on end-Feb because they were too packed! Anyway, yay to earlier appointment!
So I had my very first eyebrow embroidery yesterday, it was quite an awesome experience!
Was served with red date tea, and then I had one of their artist Winnie, analyzing my face shape and features for my customized eyebrow design. She applied numbing cream for me and did a patch test on my neck to test for allergies.

I love their new shop design, so pretty!

The process was totally painless, at least to me. Haha. My mom freaking told me it will hurt and asked me to take panadol before I go.... what??? Scared the hell out of me. Lol! So I happily went home and told her it wasn't painful AT ALL, even after the numbing effect is gone. I even fell asleep. She was pretty awed. Hahahhahaha.... & can't stop staring at it.. ~_~

I was given this aftercare cream which I had to apply for at least 5 days. Pretty tub! ^_^

Hahaha.... Now my eyebrow's too dark, takes some days to fade to a more natural color. I'll be patient!!
After all with filter effect, it does look natural right?? HAHAH :P

Check out Erabelle pretty website if you're interested. It's not cheap to be honest, but worth it to me!

Just fyi, I don't get paid for any of my posts. Simply sharing the good stuffs to you! So trust me! :P
Even though this might means harder to book appointment for myself... lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway, I wanted to say... Putting on makeup isn't being fake. Even if you look like a different person. Makeup is fun! You get to go for different looks and all. What's more important, it makes you happy! We are allowed to color our life, why not our faces? Being pretty simply makes us happier, make our day better too! Some excitements in life cause no harm. So girls, don't feel like you're wearing a mask out, you are showing art to the world. HAHA. Who knows you may be the eye-candy of somebody! We all know how eye-candies brighten our day even if we don't even talk to them at all. Hehehe so stay pretty yo ^_^
Valentine's day? I've got no time for that
It's busy February I have so many assignments due this month! 3 of them require site visit. Damn~
Anyway I've been eating a lot during Chinese New Year, like almost everyone did. Haha! & lazily skipping gym.... finally I'm back on track now but the fats still there. LOL
Sister says I have no life, everyday is only work, school, gym. All I can say is, 'this is life' hahaha... am I wrong? I simply have stopped partying and well, my friends they just don't have time for me. Work, school and gym have been keeping me busy enough.
It's heaven once in a while when I get to laze at home the whole day watching dramas or movies and not think or stress about everything.
I've been thinking of going on vacation every now and then though. But I'm saving for my Japan trip. Times like this you have a hard time deciding whether to save for a big trip or go on a few short ones. Oh well, bear with it.
